Colorado Climate Festival

Build community with state-wide partners in the effort to address the social, economic and policy issues surrounding climate disruption. The announcement from the organizers of Saturday's event:

You're invited to an afternoon of live music, Colorado Beer, and an eco-village of Colorado businesses uniting against Climate Change. The Colorado Climate Festival - Uniting Against Climate Change, will take place in Denver Civic Center Park at the Greek Amphitheater on Saturday, May 11th from Noon to 3pm. The event is free and open to the public!

Go for a Hike

Set aside time from your busy schedule to be with the Whole Earth. Pay special attention to the grand diversity of creation happening all about. Slow down and take your time. Here in Denver there are plenty of local trails.

1. Are you pining for deciduous forest and marshes? Wander about the Wetlands Loop Trail in Cherry Creek State Park.

2. Take in wide views of the foothils and sweeping sunsets from the Summit Loop Trail of Green Mountain at William Hayden Park.

3. Spend time with the fall colors of towering cottonwood trees along the Highline Canal Trail, immediately southwest of First Plymouth.

4. Are you looking for wildlife? Starting mid-fall, keep an eye out for elk and mule deer along the Grubstake Loop of Apex Park.

5. If the long developments of geology capture your imagination, access the hogback formation on the Dinosaur Ridge trail. Of course, you will find dinosaur tracks, too!

6. Do you have a night to get away? Backpack into the Sawmill Campground from the west entrance of White Ranch Park. Take in the stars and sea of city lights from your campfire, then wake for a blazing sunrise over the high plains.

7. In May, catalogue the panopoly of wildflowers along the Basalt Cap Loop of South Table Mountain.

Water Vigil

Where would we be without water?

As everyday earth care, focus your heart and mind on your relationship with water today. Pay attention to its intersection with your day to day life. Listen to its story. Reflect on its health. Observe what is so easy to forget.

Stunning and heart-breaking.

Take political action, then consider the individual and systemic water choices that we make living in the arid West. How can we be the prophetic voice for right relationship with the Whole Earth?
